A flurry of new clips from The Conjuring 2, directed by James Wan, give a good taste of what to expect when it opens in theaters on Friday. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga once again star as Ed and Lorraine Warren, real-life paranormal investigators whose work took them to England in the late 1970s.
The film follows along as the Warrens learn about a case involving a family plagued by the so-called Enfield poltergeist. (The family lived in a north London neighborhood known as Enfield.) What was happening? In this clip, young Janet Hodgson (Madison Wolfe) learns how difficult it is to keep a chair where you want it when a paranormal creature is present.
Frances O'Connor stars as Peggy Hodgson, a single mother whose nerves have been strained by what her daughters have been telling her. Here's a clip in which she's had enough with all the nonsense.
At an early point in their investigation, Ed and Lorraine sit down with a priest to listen to a tape recording that is not what they expected.
Ed and Lorraine are soon introduced to Peggy, who shows them a room that is under lock and key.
In this clip, Lorraine has a calm, quiet discussion with young Janet, who calmly and quietly explains a conversation that is quite unsettling.
Finally, we rewind a bit to an interview with a television news crew. The interviewer is initially doubtful about the reports of a poltergeist, at least until someone speaks up.
Early reviews on the film have been quite positive, but you can decide for yourself when The Conjuring 2 opens in theaters on Friday, June 10.
