Golden Globes 2016 Live Blog: All The Red Carpet Dresses and Celeb Style to Know
Red carpet season is finally here! It’s T-minus four hours until 2016 The Golden Globe Awards—but first, how about some red carpet love? We’ll be live blogging every major fashion moment of the night—from the stars’ limo entrances to their stiletto-clad departures.
This year’s Globes features nominees that aren’t just incredibly fine actresses, they’re also some of the most exciting and influential dressers on the planet. Fashion favorites such as Cate Blanchett, Lady Gaga, Rooney Mara, and more style-setting celebs will be making their entrances tonight—not to mention our fabulous cover star Jennifer Lawrence, who consistently kills it on the red carpet. Take a look at her red carpet transformation here—bring on the Dior, J. Law!
There are also some newer starlets making a name for themselves in both acting circles and fashion. The most promising fashion stars are Alicia Vikander, Brie Larson, Gina Rodriguez, and Lola Kirke. (You can learn more about these style stars on the rise right here.) Tonight is an incredibly important fashion moment for these starlets, with millions watching. You may recall Lupita Nyong’o’s Globes debut in 2014 in a caped red Ralph Lauren gown, after which she was declared a fashion phenom.
Beyond the red carpet, we’ll be covering style news throughout the show. Here’s hoping it’ll be more about the fabulous surprise presenters who didn’t walk the carpet (we’re talking about you, Julia Roberts), and less of the wardrobe malfunction variety (you know who you are).
So stay tuned here for all the style info you’ve been waiting for and be sure to follow us on social media at @glamour_fashion on Twitter and @glamourmag on Instagram. And don’t miss us on @glamourmag on Snapchat, where our intrepid entertainment reporter, Jessica Radloff will be talking to celebs and snapping lots!
Not for anything, but didn’t Stallone’s gorgeous (model!) daughters steal the show tonight?
Cookie FTW! Not only did Taraji P. Henson just win a Golden Globe, she’s also wearing 107-carat emerald earrings! We knew those rocks were only fit for a winner! They are by Kimberly McDonald for Gemfields and they are gorgeous,
Leave it to Jennifer Lopez to rock TWO HUNDRED carats of Harry Winston diamonds with her saffron Giambattista Valli gown (also in saffron, America Ferrera and Lola Kirke!)
You have to love that Melissa McCarthy designed her own dress. And damn, she looks good.
Khaleesi in the house! Emilia Clarke took a cue from her GoT character with a fierce cape!
It’s nice to see Kirsten Dunst back on the red carpet. It’s been a while!
Viola Davis in Marchesa
Our red carpet reporter is on it.
Zendaya. In Marchesa. That’s all.
Laverne Cox in Elizabeth Kennedy dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
I feel protected, like I’m in a hug…it’s like Joan of Arc armor,” said Brie Larson of her custom gold Calvin Klein Collection dress.
Bryce Dallas Howard in a Jenny Packham dress she bought herself (no stylist!) at Neiman Marcus. “I like having lots of options for a size six as opposed to maybe one option, so I always go to department stores,” she told Giuliana Rancic.
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton
Joanne Froggatt definitely wearing something her Downton character, Anna, would never! But we love them both! Props for the sheer illusion detail at the neckline of her Reem Acra gown.
Nominee Gina Rodriguez, came with her super-cute dad. Her mom came to town, too and made a turkey, which they ate while Gina glammed. Her dress is Zac Posen (with pockets!), jewelry by Neil Lane and Jimmy Choo shoes, which she said, “make me feel taller than I ever did in my life!”
Sophia Bush in a sleek black column by Narciso Rodriguez. “This just really felt comfortable for me,” the actress said about how she chose the dress. Her jewelry is by Martin Katz.
Got to love that Julia Louis-Dreyfus posed this 9 minutes after the start of the red carpet.
And now, allow Kevin Spacey to answer the typical questions females get asked on the red carpet:
