Eclectic singer David Bowie dies at age 69
The Hollywood Reporter reports that legendary singer David Bowie has died after a battle with cancer, just days after he celebrated his 69th birthday on Jan 8.
The singer’s representative confirmed the news of his death to the trade magazine.
“David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief,” read a statement posted on the artiste’s official social media accounts.
Bowie’s 24th and final album The Next Day was released in 2013 and reached number two spot on the Billboard 200 charts.
