Last summer John C. Reilly casually mentioned in an interview that he had recently signed on to be in Wreck-It Ralph 2. He probably then got quite a few calls from Disney Animation asking politely for him to stop talking about a sequel they hadn't even announced yet. We then went another 12 months with tidbits teasing a sequel to the hit movie about the secret lives of video game avatars, but nothing official.

Until today.

The people at Walt Disney Animation Studios officially announced Wreck-It Ralph 2 during a Facebook Live video event. They didn't reveal much in way of concrete details, only that Rich Moore and Phil Johnston will be cowriting and codirecting the sequel, which will star John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman. As for the story, the only tease offered is that the next movie will see Ralph and Vanellope entering the wide world of Internet gaming.

Wreck-It Ralph 2 will hit theaters March 9, 2018.
