The 58th Annual Grammy Awards are already shaping up to be one of the best ever if this weekend’s pre-Grammy parties are any indication. On Friday night, the Recording Academy honored the legendary Lionel Richie as their MusiCares Person of the Year, which raised over $7 million for charity. With host Jimmy Kimmel, Grammy-winning and nominated artists such as Rihanna, Chris Stapleton, Dave Grohl, Lenny Kravitz, Usher, John Legend, Florence Welch, Demi Lovato, the Band Perry, threw it back to the ’70s and ’80s with Richie’s biggest hits. Then tonight, the coveted 2016 Pre-Grammy Gala + Grammy Salute to Industry Icons takes place (also known as the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party) at the famed Beverly Hilton, and everyone from Taylor Swift to Lady Gaga is expected to come out to celebrate. But who needs to read about everything that happened when you can see first-hand what it was like to be there? Take a look at everything behind-the-scenes, as we are there to capture it all before tomorrow’s Grammys (where FYI, we’ll be Snapchatting from the red carpet @glamourmag).

Lenny Kravitz started off the 2016 MusiCares Gala with his rocking rendition of Richie’s “Running with the Night.” The event was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, just steps from the Staples Center, home to tonight’s Grammy Awards.

Jimmy Kimmel kicked off his hosting duties by dressing as Lionel Richie from his 1970s Commodores days. Earlier in the evening, the writing staff of Jimmy Kimmel Live! celebrated with a win at the Writers Guild Award.

Rihanna killed it with her rendition of Richie’s 1985 hit “Say You, Say Me,” from the film, White Nights, starring Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines. The song made Richie an Oscar and Golden Globe winner for Best Original Song.

Dave Grohl gave the best speech of the night, explaining how when he injured his leg last year, Richie sent him a get well basket of almost 500 muffins. Before launching into a rousing rendition of “You Are,” Grohl joked that, “I didn’t bring you a muffin basket, [but] I brought you this,” of the hit song. At the end of the performance (which drew a standing ovation), Kimmel joked: “One of the guys from Nirvana just sang ‘You Are.’ Those must have been some good muffins.” Watch:

Unless Adele had shown up to sing Richie’s most popular song, “Hello,” there was only one performer that could do it justice—Richie himself. Take a look:

Of course, you can’t end the night on a romantic ballad like “Hello,” so Richie took the stage one more time (along with all of the evening’s performers) to sing his 1983 hit “All Night Long.” We dare you not to get up and dance.

Meanwhile, across the street, a much more intimate bash was taking place, as Katy Perry co-hosted “The Creators” party at downtown L.A.’s Cicada restaurant. Perry, Missy Elliott, Sia, and Greg Kurstin teamed up with Spotify to host an exclusive dinner and party for artists, producers and songwriters to give artists the chance to connect and form relationships in a private and intimate environment.
